Learn Kumihimo braiding using discarded balloon strings to create playful accessories in this beginner-friendly workshop.

Join Hannah Wild for BRAID IT, a hands-on workshop exploring Kumihimo, a traditional Japanese braiding technique.

Participants will use weaving discs to create braided cords, experimenting with colourful discarded balloon strings instead of traditional threads. Through guided making and playful experimentation, participants will create unique accessories such as bag charms, button details, or brooches.

Rooted in reimagining overlooked materials, this workshop encourages participants to explore the creative potential of everyday waste while developing new making skills.

No previous experience is required. All materials will be provided, and participants will leave with their own braided creation and the skills to continue the technique at home.
