
Fashion Design Intensive Short Course
Course description
This two-week intensive fashion design course has been designed to cover all the key elements of Introduction to Fashion Design alongside more advanced fashion design and fashion drawing techniques. It provides an introduction to the principles of fashion design and concentrates on the development of ideas from well explored research.

Who should attend?
Beginners. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required.
This course is for students aged 18 and older.
Clear, easy to understand lessons:
- Our tutors will explain things in easy to understand, accessible English. If they need to use any special terminology they will make sure they explain what they mean.
- New methods will be shown to students through live demonstrations, in a way thats crystal clear and easy to understand.

- As long as you attend a minimum of 80% of your classes, we will provide you with a certificate of attendance.
- We always recommend you attend all of the classes so that you get the most out of the experience!

The course will include:
- Understanding the fashion design process
- Developing mood boards
- Fabric awareness
- Basic figure fashion drawing techniques
- Designing using model and draping techniques on the stand
- Developing a colour palette through an awareness of current trends and predictions
- Selecting appropriate fabrics for the market/designs developed
- Communicating your design ideas in a creative and logical way
- Discovering how to build a fashion collection that is well balanced and innovative
Materials
In order to get the most out of this course you should bring the following materials to your first session:
- A3 layout pad
- 2b Pencils
- Fine black fibre tip pens
- Glue stick
- Magic marker or brush pen in the skin colour of your choice
- Digital camera or high-quality phone camera
- Stainless steel pins
- Fabric scissors
- Paper scissors
- Laptop/iPad/tablet
These can be purchased from any good art shop/dressmaking shop. As part of your research you will be required to do some printing. Please bring a small amount of cash to the course on your first day to credit your printing account. It is unlikely you will need to spend more than £5.
