From 10 - 14 February, undergraduate students have a break from regular academic activities. It’s a great opportunity to rest, study, gain work experience, try something new or participate in activities and events.
Whether you're unwinding, discovering new skills, or exploring creative opportunities, here are some fantastic ways to fill your week:
Get support and take time to rest:
You can use this week to reset and take care of your mental health. It’s important to look after yourself and get some rest so that you can recharge and have plenty of energy for the second part of the term. Find out all the way UAL can support with your wellbeing:
- Sign up to one of our wellbeing and art therapy workshops
- Join Togetherall, your 24/7 online wellbeing community
- Reach out for counselling, chaplaincy and health advice
Be creative and meet people at some of our workshops, talks and events:
If you feel like checking out the other UAL sites, joining creative sessions or connecting with other students, Teams across UAL are working on setting up events for you to join, take a look at events taking place across our Colleges:
London College of Communication
Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon College of Arts
You can also check out the range of events we have during this time on our What’s On events listing.
Get started on your job search and apply for opportunities:
You might already be looking for job opportunities or internships that complement your studies – here are some ways in which we can help you find work doing what you love and get some advice on careers and employability:
- Register with Arts Temps to help you find creative and flexible job opportunities
- Check out UAL’s Careers and Employability team, and their comprehensive career toolkit, information on awards, funding and support, their free workshops and events and so much more
- Join the Careers and Employability team’s Founders and Freelancers community on the Dots
Catch up on readings, study and be inspired:
As there’ll be no class during this week, you’ll likely have some more time to focus on projects or assignments you’re currently working on. Get support with your assignments through Academic Support and Language Development
- Book a workshop space or borrow equipment from your College’s loan store
- Meet up with your study group at one of our libraries or explore them on your own – UAL students have access to all libraries across our Colleges!
- Practise a language you are interested in with another UAL student in a relaxed and informal way with the Student Language Exchange Board. Use your UAL log-in to access the board on Padlet.
Explore London’s arts and culture scene:
You can also use this week to get out and enjoy some inspiring artwork, exhibits or events around London. As a UAL student you have access to a wide range of offers so make sure you take advantage of them and use the discounts:
- Whether you’ve signed up with Student Art Pass or not, there are plenty of events, exhibitions and opportunities to explore on their website taking place around London
- Explore all the arts and culture your local area has to offer with the help of our guides:
This week is your time to take care of yourself, your studies and your artistic practice and UAL is here to assure you make the most it!
