In February 2023, we are launching LCF Newsroom, a project to centre the student voice in London College of Fashion, UAL communications.

Across LCF we are dedicated to improving the student experience, and a key area of feedback we often hear from students is the desire to see more workplace opportunities. So, we decided to launch a project called ‘LCF Newsroom’, where students can apply for paid opportunities to become ‘Content Creators’ to utilise their skills, passion, and creativity to pitch and create captivating content for our channels; including LCF Stories, Instagram, TikTok, and our digital screens located across LCF campuses.

LCF Newsroom will support students in building their portfolio, gain professional experience working with LCF’s Internal and External Relations (IER) team, and delivering paid projects to a brief, whilst ensuring the student voice is continuously centred in all our channels. From photographing an industry event and interviewing speakers, writing about LCF’s Move to East London in 2023, creating day-in-the-life TikToks, to curating content for our digital screens, there are tons of incredible things happening across LCF at any given moment, and we want to work with our students to capture that.

Here’s a few examples where students have produced content for us in the past:

IER will be hiring six Content Creators to work with the team across a four-month basis. The appointed candidates will receive an induction session with IER and thereafter, meet once a month to be appointed content tasks and pitch ideas which will be realised by the student and published on our channels.

How to apply

You must be an enrolled LCF undergraduate or postgraduate student and signed up to Arts Temps to apply - find out how to register for Arts Temps on the UAL website.

In your application, we ask students to tell us why you are applying for this position and that you provide some examples of previous work. This work doesn’t need to be formally presented, or from a previous commission, but it does need to give us a clear indication of your skillset and/or interests.

View the live vacancy and apply here. Applications open on Monday 9 January 2023 and close on Friday 3 February 2023 by 5pm.

We will then interview selected applicants and invite six students to join the newsroom from February – June who will be paid for 4 hours of work per commission. We will also cover any miscellaneous costs (e.g. travel) if required.
