Hollie White, who studied MA Fashion Footwear launches our Graduate Spotlight – a daily dose of Q&A’s from students who are set to graduate from LCF’s MA courses this year.

What and where did you study prior to your MA at LCF?

I did my undergraduate degree in Design at The College of Fine Arts in Sydney (University of NSW). I then did a Diploma in Footwear at Cordwainers, before working for a few years and returning to undertake my Masters Degree.

What inspires you?

I’m mostly inspired by ordinary things. Everyday objects and industrial materials and how these can be assigned new meanings and an elevated status when positioned outside their context. Photographer Steve Pyke summed it up best in his article for the Guardian “The extraordinary ordinariness of Things”.

What are your future plans?

I’d love to start my own footwear and accessories brand.

How do you feel the course will help you in your future career path?

It will help position me in a more desirable realm of the fashion industry and hopefully the work I’ve produced this year will develop into my own company.
