LCFMA20 backstage through the eyes of photographer Michaela Metesová

MA Fashion Photography student Michaela Metesová was in charge of documenting with her camera the excitement and the energy of backstage at LCFMA20. She captured the moments leading up to the show, with the hair and make-up teams — led by Toni&Guy and Suqqu — working against the clock to get the models ready for the catwalk, and the students adding the finishing touches to their collections before showing them to a packed audience of fashion press and industry representatives. Here Michaela shares with us an insight into what it was like to work as the official backstage photographer for our MA20 show.

Working in backstage for the LCFMA20 fashion show felt very epic, in a way that seemed almost removed from everyday life.

The space was filled with great excitement and tension at the same time. Amongst the chaos, everyone knew what to do in order to make the magic happen.

Capturing the mood of those intimate moments and authentic interactions between make-up artists, hair stylists, models and the designers, from the very beginning until the final show — the moment of grace — was itself a reflection of how far these fashion design students have come.
