London College of Fashion’s craft portfolio demonstrates our commitment to educational excellence, traditionally, progressively and entrepreneurially. From our origin craft is at our core, but more importantly it has given us the opportunity to embrace a wider design imagination.
For London Craft Week this year, LCF hosted an exclusive, tour-led exhibition open to the public which showcased work from current students, alumni and course practitioners from MA Footwear, MA Fashion Artefact, BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery, BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring, BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design and Innovation and BA (Hons) Cordwainers Fashion Bags and Accessories: Product Design and Innovation.
The event was followed by an invitation-only networking and drinks reception in the heart of LCF's Golden Lane campus.
LCF's Golden Lane campus is where many of LCF’s most iconic craft programs have lived for the last 25 years. This creative community has an enormously rich lineage of tutors, specialist technicians, artisans, academics, practitioners, makers, thinkers and doers. Graduates and tutors work across all levels of the fashion industry; from high street to luxury, couture, bespoke, art and artisan across all subjects.
"Craft and craft work are, as is all art and design, perceived and practiced in multi-faceted ways. What distinguishes craft is visible in process and production. From the artisanal to the hobbyist, all are valid and valued. The artificer offers the world unique, personal creations of rarity, refinement and extraordinary execution." - Rob Phillips, Creative Director of School of Design and Technology at LCF.
