Xiaomeng Yang studied MA Fashion Design Technology Menswear and is from China.

What and where did you study prior to your MA at LCF?

I did a  BA fashion degree at  Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology in China.

What inspires you?

I drew inspiration from hands – the most flexible and complex part of the human body. There are a variety of folding lines on the hands and they can be demonstrated by different types of gestures, just like the dynamic wrinkles that the clothes can create when forming different postures.

What would be your dream?

I would love to one day have an exhibition of my work shown in the Victoria & Albert museum, which I consider to be the world’s greatest museum of art and design. The dialogue between historic and contemporary, east and west, and fine art and design gives it a unique character, and for me holds a particularly special place in my heart.

What advice would you give someone wanting to study at postgraduate level at LCF?

To find your true self in your heart of hearts – take your capabilities to the extreme!
