Our next Graduate Spotlight is Jessie Bain who studied MA Fashion Retail.
What and where did you study prior to your MA at LCF?
I completed my undergrad in Human Ecology at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. My studies specifically focused on textiles and clothing and fashion merchandising.
What inspires you?
The dynamic world of fashion retail is inspiring. Fashion retail allows you to engage with so many different sectors within the fashion industry. You have the opportunity to be involved with buying and merchandising, retail design, window displays etc. It is an area within the fashion industry that is constantly evolving, and is the final touch point where the final product, store environment, and customer all interact and come together.
Did you undertake any study trips whilst at LCF? If so how do you feel about them?
I had the opportunity to go on a study trip to Milan to see the Bottega Venetta headquarters. It was really interesting to see the full production process from factory floor to retail store.
What was it like studying your postgraduate course at LCF?
Being able to study my MA at LCF was eye opening. The tutors, guest lectures, and other students provided insight into the fashion industry that I otherwise would not have been exposed to. It was a great experience.
