LCF MA Footwear design students have collaborated with The Victoria and Albert Museum and London Design Festival to present an evening of performances to celebrate the V&A’s current exhibition Shoes: Pleasure and Pain.

Kristina Walsh, Sandra Plantos, Niki Jessup and Emiliana Pontonutti were all selected from Eelko Moorer’s MA Footwear course by the V&A to investigate body and (non-)movement, and explore the boundaries of footwear and its wider connotations. The tailored performances will feature ‘Break Free’ by Niki; ‘Presence’ by Sandra Plantos; ‘Reformation’ by Kristina; and ‘Unlocked’ by Emiliana.

LCF MA Footwear students (left to right) Niki Jessup, Emiliana Pontonutti, Kristina Walsh and Sandra Plantos will be showcasing their work at the Victoria and Albert Museum this Friday evening between 6-9pm.

LCF News caught up with the MA Footwear group before the event to ask how the performance collaboration came about.

The London Design Festival asked MA Footwear to organise an event that complemented and celebrated the current Shoes: Pleasure and Pain exhibition. After selecting designs from our own individual collections, we worked together with the London Design Festival team and V&A to stage an evening of on-going footwear based performances. All four designs are connected through performances that represent the importance of movement, but each explores it in a their own unique way.

The V&A Late will take place at the world renowned museum in South Kensington, during London Design Week, on the evening of 25 September 2015, admission is free.
