The competition celebrates the deeply analytical and emotional skills of drawing and fashion illustration, art forms that capture the wonder of the fashioned body. The competition encourages students to explore their design practice through observation, abstract thinking, traditional and digital drawing techniques.

This year, DRAW FASHION is supported by the UK’s leading independent art supplies retailer, Cass Art. The competition will take over Cass Art’s Annual Student Spotlight for 12 hours, with all entries featured on Cass Art homepage. Cass Art, who have over the course of 30 years tried to put high quality drawing materials in the hands of artists 3 to 103, have supported the award with a £1000 prize of art materials for the overall winner.

Rob Phillips, Creative Director, School of Design & Technology spoke about his passion for drawing:

“Through illustration we can move design; personify style, mood, identity and feeling; make a statement; progress traditions and construct new worlds to push fashion forward.”

Mark Cass, CEO of Cass Art, also expressed his passion for drawing:

“We’re delighted to be celebrating the act of drawing with Draw Fashion because drawing really is at the core of all art-making. Here at Cass Art we strive to put a quality pen or pencil in the hands of everyone because we believe that drawing is integral to all the creative disciplines; any mark, line or sketch can be the start of something great.”

We look forward to LCF and Cass Art working together to inspire more examination and re-imagining of the world around us through drawing and illustration.
