Last year Brooke McCord graduated from PG Cert in Lifestyle & Fashion Journalism and is now Online Editor of Wonderland magazine. LCF News caught up with Brooke to tell us why she finds London an inspiring place to study, work and play.

Brooke came to London to take up her course and  immersed herself in the London fashion journalism industry. Straight out of the course she worked with Dazed throughout Womenswear AW14 before taking up her current role at Wonderland, and her passion for the industry and the city hasn’t abated.

LCF News: So what is it about London?

Brooke McCord: I’m from Wales and whilst I love it there, nowhere beats London when it comes to creativity. From exhibitions and shows to outdoor spaces, food markets and nightlife, there’s something you can be doing twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and I find it hard to find anything more inspiring than that. Even if you just spend an afternoon sat in a coffee shop staring out the window, it has the potential to be the most exciting people-watching session you ever partake in.

A combination of what PG Cert Fashion and Lifestyle Journalism offered and her desire to move to London drew her to take up the course once she had finished her Geography degree.

Brooke: There were various reasons why I wanted to study at LCF, but the deciding factors were location, reputation and the course structure and leader. I was desperate to move to London – the way I saw it there was no other place better to study journalism.

She also credits her tutor, Glenn Waldron with being a big influencing factor in her choice:

The list of guest lecturers was very impressive and learning from someone with as much experience in the industry as course leader Glenn Waldron was another huge pull factor.

Having already undertaken work experience with Harpers Bazaar and Spindle Magazine, Brooke found that her course helped her get further into an industry she feels passionate about:

Whilst a lot of the lectures are classroom based, each project you undertake involves independent study that gradually immerses you into the industry. We also visited various exhibitions and the Time Out London office.
