London College of Fashion will be taking its diverse fashion education credentials to London Fashion Weekend this September to discuss careers in the fashion industry and anticipating future changes to the market.

A panel made up of illustrious academic staff will be exploring the universities three different schools, Fashion Business School, School of Media and Communication and School of Design and Technology, along with emerging alumni eagerly tipped for influential futures.

Emily Huggard, Fashion PR and Communication Lecturer at LCF, will be joining the panel on Saturday 24 September.

The panel discussion will take place at 10.30am on Saturday 24 September, Saatchi Gallery, and features Jason Kass, Creative Direction for Fashion course leader, Emily Huggard, Fashion PR and Communication Lecturer, and Shaun Cole, MA Fashion Cultures course leader. They will be joined by LCF alumna designer Ada Zandition and Urban Outfitters’ Social Media Editor, Sarah Satherley, to discuss some of the exciting opportunities available to graduates today.

Shaun Cole, MA Fashion Cultures course leader, will be analysing the current state of the market and where new jobs are appearing.

“For every stitch on a garment there’s a business decision,” Eva von Alvensleben, Sustainability Strategy Manager, Kering. The panel discussion will illustrate how vast the industry really is, and that there are so many avenues beyond design. A report compiled by the British Fashion Council in 2014 showed that there were 797,000 different jobs in the fashion business, contributing £26 billion to the UK economy. Behind every designer’s collection there are photographers, filmmakers, PRs, accountants, models, stylists, strategists, analysts, specialist ateliers, creative directors and more. In this special panel talk, experts from the industry will discuss employment in the industry from a variety of angles.

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology Womenswear alumna Ada Zanditon will discussing her brand and business strategy.

LCF and London Fashion Weekend have also teamed up to offer a special 20% discount to anyone wishing to attend over the weekend.
