Evans and London College of Fashion Textiles students have collaborated on #IamUnique, a project that strives change within the fashion industry through specially made garments that are being auctioned off for Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. The auction is open until midnight Tuesday 21 February.
With other 180 stores across the UK and Ireland, Evans is one of the high streets leading retail destinations for plus size fashion and in-depth professional advice for women of all sizes. The store has been investing in fresh, new design talent as it continues to promote positive ethos to the industry.
The new collaboration featured 16 unique pieces created by second-year students with a specialist in different areas of fashion textiles – including a sophisticated mix of print, knitwear and embroidery techniques. Students were given free rein to embellish and customise the piece in their unique own style.
The brand hopes this campaign will make ‘changes within the fashion industry’. They hope to educate students and get them to think about differing body shapes in order to spread the message that all bodies are different and that is fashion is more than one size.
Evans have used the student’s illustrations, embroidery, beading and print skills to personalise many of their garments. The online auction opened at 7pm on Thursday 16 February and runs until midnight Tuesday 21 February. All the money raised will be donated to Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
The students involved in the project were Aashiya Master, Seyhan Kaya, Dina Fusi, Cassia Adams, Shonaegh Lindsay Cochlan, Jiwon Woo, Yu-Ting Wang, Da Hye Yi, Mia Anderson, Katie Westwood, Sophie Louise Martin, Megan Rose Boyden, Yu Hu, Wenxuan Zhou, Ella Frances Butterfield, Marianna Koulianou, Valia Kapeletazi, Danbee Choi, Amber Young, Mellisa Goy, Amelia May Skarpellis.
