Results of the 27th annual Pewter Live event were announced on Thursday 4th June and LCF’s BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery students scooped prizes in the Fashion section.
Pewter Live is a prestigious design competition organised by the Worshipful Company of Pewterers, London: one of the 110 historic Livery Companies of the City of London. The award celebrates both student and professional jewellery designers, and excellence within design and making in Pewter. The competition is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring designers to gain not only a valuable commission but a great deal of publicity. This year the committee was chaired by jeweller and silversmith Richard Parsons and awards presented by British designer Nick Munro. Entrants were asked to submit a piece comprised of mixed materials, one of which should be pewter.
Second year students Saijun Zhang and Po Ying Bobo Cheng were awarded joint 3rd place in the ‘Fashion – Total Look’ category.
Jane Francis, course leader, BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery said:
“The BA Hons Fashion Jewellery course encourages students to push the boundaries of innovative design, through reimagining of traditional materials and processes. Working with Pewter Live has allowed our students to reference historical methods, and explore new and challenging creative possibilities.”
