Loukia has been an Associate Lecturer in Fashion Styling and Production at London College of Fashion since 2017. She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate courses including the BA (Hons) Costume for Performance and the cross-disciplinary Masters Unit Collaborative Challenge. She is also the lead tutor for the Summer Study Abroad-Fashion Styling Course at LCF.
With a background in costume and set design, she has practiced for more than 25 years as a stylist and costume designer, across performance, theatre, films, commercials and music video production.
Her research focuses on inclusive fashion for people with different abilities, and the narrative possibilities of styling and fashion design, as well as the sensory properties of garments and they role in the social environment. She leads a specialist project, The Wardrobes for Dementia, as part of the postgraduate cross-disciplinary Masters Unit Collaborative Challenge at LCF exploring garments for people living with dementia with the incorporation of sensory elements and embedded technologies.
Her pedagogical approach includes inclusive narrative and sensory design methods, emphasising co-creation and non-conformative ways of communication for both educational and professional contexts.
