Every month we ask our community of staff and students to suggest events, exhibitions and more going on in Elephant & Castle and beyond.

From a photography exhibition at the Barbican recommended by our Programme Director for Photography to a community garden event at the nearby Elephant Park, find out the recommended things to do in London this August…

Camberwell Space  – until 17 August 2018

A group exhibition displaying new and recent work by four alumni of Camberwell College of Arts; James Campion, Giorgia Castiglioni, Marcus Dobbs and Kate Howard. This exhibition includes work in a range of media including painting, photography, moving image, sculpture and digital.

Dorothea Lange/Vanessa Winship: A Photography Double Bill

Art Gallery, Barbican Centre

A double bill of exhibitions featuring pioneering documentary photographer and visual activist, Dorothea Lange, and award-winning contemporary photographer, Vanessa Winship. “The brilliant Dorothea Lange’s Depression era photographs including those she shot for the Farm Security Administration in the 1930’s, including a whole room devoted to her iconic Migrant Mother portrait. And a long overdue solo show of the British documentary photographer Vanessa Winship – one of the most important contemporary documentary photographers working at the moment.”  recommends Christopher Stewart, Programme Director Photography.

Think and Pray for Me

Camberwell Space – 28 August until 7 September 2018

A solo exhibition of new works by Rosie Grace Ward, the culmination of a year-long residency at Vanguard Court Studios. “Think And Pray For Me draws from a phrase used by politicians and public figures to offer condolences after public loss of life.
