FreshFaced+WildEyed, an annual competition for recent graduates, is now in its seventh year. Following an online application process, this year’s panel of judges, Sophy Rickett, David Drake, Sheyi Bankale and Brett Rogers select twenty two outstanding bodies of work from graduates nation-wide for an exhibition at The Photographers’ Gallery and an online gallery. This exhibition will run till Sunday 20 July.
Out of these twenty-two graduates, this year eight are from LCC: Alice Myers, Elina Moriya, Ian Rudgewick-Brown, James Duncan Clark, Lidija Kononenko, Marcello Simone, Tanya Clarke and Tracey Fahy.
James, whose photographs explore the relationship between London’s Olympic Park and its inhabitants, explains “I’m absolutely delighted to be showing at such a prestigious venue. The quality of all the work from all the graduating students is very high, so it’s a privilege to be involved.”
Lidija has been shortlisted for her six short films called ‘A Guide to Walking in Public’. They investigate the visual language of the body within social contexts.
By giving graduates a public platform at a critical point in their careers FreshFaced+WildEyed aims to showcase the talent and diversity of photographic practice emerging from BA and MA courses across the UK.
Following the exhibition at The Photographers’ Gallery, selected finalists will have the opportunity to work with a mentor for twelve months.
