The Diploma in Professional Studies (DPS) at London College of Communication (LCC) is an optional, 1-year initiative which provides students with an empowering opportunity to explore potential creative futures through placements, enterprise initiatives and freelance experiences.

Originally offered to undergraduates in our Design School, the upcoming academic year will expand the successful Diploma to those in our Media and Screen Schools, enabling more students to develop their professional skills, expand their networks, and build on their academic knowledge.

Supported by academics and the LCC Placements Team, DPS students work across a range of national and international locations before rejoining their courses for a final year of study – not only with significant experience in their chosen field, but with increased confidence and new connections that can help to kickstart their careers.

From September 2021 the 1-year programme will expand and open to applications from BA (Hons) Animation, BA (Hons) Sound Arts, BA (Hons) Film Practice, and BA (Hons) Film and Television.

From September 2022, DPS will open to BA (Hons) Journalism, and BA (Hons) Magazine Journalism and Publishing.

Second-year students can apply to DPS by the end of the autumn term, and applications will be reviewed on the basis of their performance on their course to date, along with their levels of interest and ability to work independently for a year. Those interested in the initiative are also encouraged to attend the 'Preparation for Industry' programme of weekly workshops co-designed and delivered with the UAL Careers and Employability team, which can equip them with vital tools for securing their first work opportunities.
