Biography

Yuxin Jiang an artist based in London and Shanghai and a Senior Lecturer on BA (Hons) Photography at London College of Communication.

Yuxin's work currently centres on some of the intersectional identity issues of being Chinese and a migrant in the UK. She does this by making visible how these issues are embedded in languages, popular culture, and day-to-day life. Recent projects include ‘LucySushi’ (2021-ongoing), writings on her positionality, ‘The Instagram Project’ (2020-ongoing), a series of work on how Chinese identity is constructed by internet images.

Yuxin is a recipient of a-n Bursaries: Time Space Money 2020, part of Syllabus V (2019/20), an alternative artist learning programme organised by Wysing Arts Centre, Eastside Projects, iniva, The NewBridge Project, S1 Artspace and Spike Island. She is part of Parallel 3rd Cycle (2019/20), a European artist and curator development programme for photographic practice, winner of Lianzhou Foto Festival 2018 Jury Prize, and a nominee of Jimei x Arles Discovery Award 2017. Her work has been exhibited in China, Italy, Poland, Sweden and the UK.

She is also the translator of Photography: The Key Concepts by David Bate (2nd edition, Routledge), and co-founder of pic.london, a platform supporting artists working in photography and media arts.
