Tiziana is an Associate Lecturer for MA Design for Data Visualisation at London College of Communication.
She is a London-based data artist, creative director, and founder of the studio NECESSITY.INK. Known for her poetic approach to technology, she transforms intangible phenomena—such as soundscapes, biometric data, and urban memory—into immersive visual and sonic installations.
Working at the intersection of art, technology, and data, Tiziana’s work captures intangible phenomena through city soundscapes, biometric data, scents, archives, and personal narratives. Her approach is both analytical and poetic, reflecting a biographical journey that makes the invisible visible. Her practice is defined as ‘behavioural cartography’ – visually mapping the minutiae of how people live today. Her work converts recorded data into pictorial and sonified abstractions – transforming data into meaningful stories.
Tiziana’s work has been commissioned by Gucci, The National Gallery (London), the British Library, Google, Lufthansa Group, BBC, David Gilmour, The Orb, The Guardian, Condé Nast, and JP Morgan. Her work was exhibited internationally at UNIT London, The British Library, London Design Festival at King's College London, Fondation EDF, C3 Mexico City, Milan Design Week, and The Royal Danish Academy.
Alongside her practice, Tiziana has been an Associate Lecturer at the University of the Arts London since 2018. She has guest lectured internationally at CENTRO in Mexico City and Harbour Space in Bangkok, amongst others. As a thought leader and speaker in the data, art and design space, she lends her voice regularly to prominent international events. Her talk for TEDx – for which she is a member of the Board of Advisors – crystallised the core objectives of her practice, unpacking the processes around How Sound Data Can Recreate Lost Memories.
In 2017, she co-founded the award-winning Market Cafe Magazine – the world’s first independent magazine about data visualisation. The publication is sold in over 20 independent bookstores globally and has featured internationally leading figures in data and information design, and cultivated a vibrant and international community.
