Interview

Paula Merlo studied MA Publishing at London College of Communication. After graduating, Paula headed back to her home of Brazil to experience the publishing world in South America.

What year did you graduate and what have you been up to since LCC?

I after I graduated I came back to Brazil where I launched Glamour magazine in our country as their Features Editor. Then I became Senior Editor and now I am Editor in Chief for Glamour Brazil.

Why did you choose to study this course and why LCC?

I wanted to understand publishing in-depth and update my skills. Before LCC I worked at Vogue Brazil and I needed fresh ideas to continue working in journalism. LCC is a well-known university and I wanted to live in London where publishing is very strong.

What’s your favourite thing about LCC now?

The friends I made – these people are also doing great in their professional lives!

What important piece of advice would you give to students thinking of studying this course?

Listen to your tutors! These guys know what they're talking about and are so willing to help you out.

If you could interview anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

The Pope! He's the most forward-thinking man alive.

What three words would you use to describe LCC?

Respectful, challenging, friendly.

How did you find living in London, and where’s your favourite place to explore?

For the first 6 - 8 months I lived in LCC accommodation in Southwark, then I lived in Earls Court. I explored London as a whole, but fell in love with the West side.
