Biography

David is the Course Leader for BA (Hons) Film Practice at London College of Communication.

David’s practice spans both traditional documentary and fiction, but also more experimental hybrid forms of filmmaking. Since 2008, he has produced three feature documentaries and directed a further two, securing commissions and funds from award-winning strands like Al Jazeera’s Witness, BBC, but also from organisations such as the British Council and the Wellcome Trust.

These films were shown internationally as well as playing in competition at festivals like Krakow, London International Doc Fest, Jakarta, Big Sky, AM Docs, and Utah. His documentary The Boys with Broken Ears won four awards for best film. Since 2014, David stepped away from producing to focus more on writing and directing.

In 2018, he wrote and directed The Night the Wind Blew, a short fiction which was nominated for three international awards at Palm Springs and won best short film at CYIFF. He has recently finished his latest film La Rabbia, a hybrid feature set in a small village in southern Italy.
