Describe you experience at Chelsea so far in three words.

Exciting. Broadening. New.

Why did you choose to study at Chelsea?

I chose to study at Chelsea because I love the laid back feel of the place itself, coupled with the seriousness with which people regard what they do.

What has surprised you most about your university experience so far?

The caliber of the people in my year group. Even at this point, I think there are very exciting things beginning to happen. Over the next years together some great work will be produced.

Tell us about one of the projects you’ve worked on so far…

I loved one of our first projects. We were given an A1 piece of paper and asked to go out in London and get as many people to interact with the piece of paper as possible. In my group we decided to get the public to write a story allowing each person to contribute three words to an ongoing piece of writing. The result was weird but very much fun.

What skills have you learned so far in the 3D/Digital workshops? Have you used any new processes/materials?

So far I have learned my way around a photography studio which is very useful. I also got to grips with InDesign, a programme that allows you to arrange all of your work which will also be great for my practice.

How are you finding your accommodation so far? Do you have any advice for prospective students?

I am a lodger in a house with unbelievably cheap rent (I was lucky).

What do you get up to outside of college time?

I spend a lot of time working on different projects, some paid. I also squeeze in going out when I can.

Do you have any money saving tips for getting by as a student in London?

Supermarket meal deals are the way forward. Also with an 18+ TFL Oyster card, you can get a weekly bus pass for around £14, and if you get around mostly by bus you’re doing well regarding travel costs.

Is there any advice you would give to prospective students thinking of applying to your course?

The course is a lot of fun. It feels very alive. People are doing all kinds of crazy things – very exciting!
