We have all experienced poor connectivity with the UAL WiFi at some point. Our buildings are beautiful, but vast and some are rather old, this can make the WiFi rather spotty at times.

Our network is vast and covers 4,873,500 meters of cabling, 37,504 network ports and 1,883 WiFi access points! 

We are working to improve this network by widening the reach of our WiFi, modernising our physical infrastructure and, improving how our buildings are connected between each other and to the internet. These improvements started earlier this year, with work installing the 'core-to-core' backbone of the network taking place over summer. We will continue installing and upgrading our network throughout 2024; ensuring that you have the connectivity you need where you need it.

Our cheapest ever Adobe Creative Cloud deal!

Whilst you can get Adobe products for free using university computers, it can be expensive to purchase them for your personal devices. This is why we offer a discounted subscription to the full Adobe CC suite, plus 100GB cloud storage to all students.

This year we have secured our cheapest offer yet with access until 13 August 2023 for a single payment of £41.59. This is a fantastic deal considering the usual price for the full Creative Cloud package is £78.98 a month!

If you don’t require all the tools and functionality of the full Creative Cloud package, this year we have also secured a deal for Adobe Express. For a one-off payment of £8.69 you get access until 13 August, a package that usually costs £9.98 a month.

Upgrading and investing in the digital learning experience

Since the pandemic, the digital learning experience has become increasingly important, we’ve are continuously working to improve the student experience across all our digital platforms and systems.

Moodle is the online home for your course. During your studies, Moodle is your way to access course material, submit assessments, find important information about your course and take part in activities such as discussions and online seminars. We are always working to improve the Moodle experience and this summer we upgraded Moodle to improve navigation, streamline your dashboard and enhance the way you access resources.

We have invested into out Digital Learning team who work with staff and students to engage, inspire and manage students’ online learning experience in our digital spaces. Through their Digital Creative Attributes Framework they support the development of creative and collaborative practices in the digital environment.

Digital award certificates

We want to make sure you are supporting you technologically all through your studies, and now beyond!

This year was the first year that we offered digital award certificates to all graduates through the service Gradintelligence. Get access to your degree immediately so that you can share with prospective employees, instead of waiting the usual 6-8 weeks for a hard copy.

You don’t need to worry about losing your degree and it is always there when you need it, plus it is better for the environment.
