Today we caught up with Chelsea student Luke Sharma, currently in the 2nd year of his FdA Interior Design course.

Describe your experience at Chelsea in 3 words.

Challenging, exciting, priceless

What do you enjoy most about studying at Chelsea?

I really like the community feel to Chelsea. The small college means you get to know people on other courses and the atmosphere is very comfortable and inviting.

Where do you live at the moment and what do you enjoy most about being in London?

I live in Epsom, Surrey about an hour away from Chelsea, some find this unbelievable how I can travel an hour and half there and back every day but it’s worth it! London being a 24 hour city with such a fast paced and forever changing environment makes coming into Chelsea every morning exciting.

What has been your greatest challenge so far on the course and how have you overcome it?

Coming to an arts college with no fine art experience was very daunting. Seeing my peers with phenomenal paintings and sketches was intimidating but rather than putting me down, it pushed me to persist and maximise my skills.

What have been your greatest achievements during your time at Chelsea?

After not doing well at school due to lack of interest in studying when I was younger, receiving a B+ in my final portfolio and seeing my groups piece in the Chelsea Summer Show was something I’ll never forget.

What do you see yourself doing after you graduate, what are your career ambitions?

Becoming an architect is the only thing I’ve ever wanted so much for as long as I can remember.
