Performances

Love for Love

by William Congreve, a new adaptation written and directed by Matthew Iliffe

Valentine is broke, lovesick, and out of options. His father wants him disinherited. His creditors want him arrested. And the woman he loves? She's not saying a word.

So, he does the only reasonable thing: he pretends to go mad.

William Congreve's razor-sharp comedy of desire, deception and spectacularly bad decisions gets a fresh outing in Matthew Iliffe's new adaptation. Beneath the wit and the wordplay, a father and son are at war, and a woman holds all the cards.

Sharp and raucous, Love for Love asks how far you'd go to prove you mean it and whether anyone in this world is quite what they seem.

Adapted from William Congreve's 1695 comedy and developed with BA Acting and Performance students at Wimbledon College of Arts.

From the burning present to a future we're already building, Steven Kavuma's play asks what it means to function, to love, to speak or to stay very, very quiet when the world is on fire and your thumbs keep scrolling.

By Shekinah Warren, EllaRhoomsandAnakayeWallace

It’s the year 3040 and Melody seems to have it all: a streaming empire, a record deal, endless fans. But when sudden tragedy strikes, she turns to a therapist, and not your usual kind. This therapist has glitches… and a hidden agenda.

Meanwhile, Allegra — who doesn’t have it all, with barely any followers to her name — is searching for something more.

An original, mixed media performance, exploring ambition, jealousy, and artificial intelligence, in a world where privacy is an illusion… and not everything is as it seems.

Somewhere in the thick of a wheat field, voices gather. Maybe the last ever wheat field? Maybe somewhere in the afterlife? Or maybe it's just a back garden?

Field Recording is the latest collaborative realisation from emerging performance makers Joshua Hogan and Ella Tayler: a vocal performance work created through improvisational devising, occupying a space somewhere between folk music, live art and theatre.
