A Journey Through Sonic Worlds: A Deltron 3030 Listening Party

What does it mean to really listen to an album? In an age of shuffled playlists and the TikTok-ification of music, listening to an album from start to finish is a radical act. This session is an invitation to do exactly that: a guided, collective listening experience designed to slow down and become immersed in an album’s sonic world.

In this session, we travel to the year 3030 with Deltron 3030’s self-titled debut album (2000). The world is corporate-controlled, oppressive, and in need of a revolution. Enter Deltron Zero: rebel hero, rapper, and unlikely saviour. This album is a landmark of alternative Hip Hop: a sci-fi concept album that weaves Afrofuturism, dystopian world-building, and razor-sharp lyricism into a single, cohesive journey. By imagining the future, the album speaks urgently about the present.

We'll listen to the albums together, guided by prompts to help you engage with the music as it unfolds, followed by time for discussion and reflection.
