Growing numbers of men are realizing that their personal image is an important way for them to market themselves in both business and leisure, and to improve their confidence and express their personality. But many also do not have the experience or the time to be able to do this well for themselves. Enter the professional men’s image consultant!

In this course you will learn how to work with male clients to help them develop their own personal style. This can be very rewarding, as you help your clients try new styles, update their look to match their status or stage in life, and develop pride in their appearance. The course covers all the technical skills and processes you need to offer consulting services, as well as training how to market yourself to potential clients and build your business.

Tutor Description


Leanne Cloudsdale is a fashion industry professional with 15 years experience. Leanne has worked for a number of luxury brands including Margaret Howell, Folk, WP Lavori, Arc'teryx and Orlebar Brown. A menswear specialist, she regularly mentors design students across all disciplines, and has been teaching at London College of Fashion since 2010, in addition to her own practise as a creative consultant. 


John William has been working at the forefront of fashion media for over fifteen years. An industry professional, he specialises in journalism, styling, creative direction, trend forecasting and photography. He launched London College of Fashion’s print magazine ‘Pigeons and Peacocks’ in 2008 and continued to work as the Editor in Chief for the next five years. Editorial clients include: i-D, Vice, The Sunday Times Style, Paper, Puss Puss, Please! and Nylon. For the past decade, John has been working as an Associate Lecturer at the London College of Fashion across a number of BA courses, as well as teaching a range of fashion media short courses. John William is currently the Online Editor for Beauty Papers Magazine. 


Materials


In order to fully participate in the practical exercises, please have the following materials/equipment for the first class:

  • A notepad and a pen
  • A modern computer with an up-to-date operating system
  • An up-to-date web browser (Google Chrome is recommended)
  • A microphone (a headset with microphone/headphones is recommended)
  • Headphones
  • Webcam

Finally, a good broadband connection is also essential (mobile data 3G/4G or a mobile dongle might not provide sufficient bandwidth).
