Course description
Join Technical Drawing for Interior Design and learn how to create plans, elevations and sections as used by interior design professionals. Gain an understanding of the drawings used in Interior Design, the processes and spatial considerations involved.
You'll begin by learning how to use the equipment and materials and how to work in different scales. You'll carry out a detailed survey from which you'll produce your own drawings to include furniture and interior fittings.
You'll come away with a good grasp of drawing conventions, layout and notation.
Course outcomes
You'll leave with a thorough understanding of the drawings used in Interior Design and the process and spatial considerations involved in producing them. You'll be able to conduct a site survey and draw up plans, elevations and sections, as well as drawing furniture and interior fixtures. In addition, you'll understand how to lay out and annotate drawings to a professional standard.
Who should attend
Anyone considering or wishing to take up Interior Design as a profession as well as designers studying or working in architecture or theatre design. The course is also a good starting point for those who want to progress to using CAD programmes.

Please bring the following materials with you on the first day:
- Notebook and Pen
- A3 Graph paper x 6 sheets
- A3 Tracing paper pad
- 5 metre measuring tape
- Technical 'clutch' pencils size 0.5
- Additional 0.5 2H leads for the above technical clutch pencil
- 45 degree set square - size 250 or 300 mm
- Flat or triangular scale ruler - showing standard scales 1:100, 1:50, 1:25, 1:20, 1:5
- Circle template
- Drawing pens 0.1 and 0.8 (one thin and one thick)
- Eraser
- Masking tape (25mm)
- General purpose scissors
- A flat table on which to work or drawing board
