Recruit through Arts Temps
Arts Temps provides access to our students and alumni with a wide range of experience and talent to meet the needs of all employers.
There are approximately 2.4m creative industries jobs in the UK according to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and Arts Temps works to connect organisations with a collection of socially conscious, creative talent. When managing limited budgets and smaller teams while promoting purpose led values, recruiting creative talent can be a time consuming and complex task. Organisations increasingly seek partners who share their ethics and understand social impact - this is where UAL Arts Temps steps in.
There’s a number of reasons why non profit sectors struggle to hire effectively, and fortunately, a number of ways Arts Temps can resolve such issues. The need for creative input such as digital engagement, visual storytelling and community building continues to grow. Unfortunately for many non profits, there is a lack of in house creative staff to supply this demand. A limited budget also restricts access to bigger agencies as Creative UK states that “Over 70% of creative businesses report not having enough finance”. Moreover, if budget is not a primary barrier, then time presents itself as an invaluable currency given the time it takes to brief freelancers, sort through portfolios and train for the necessary roles. Turning to traditional agencies can feel inauthentic to the core message of charities and community driven work when it comes to topics of identity, inequality and environmental justice. Those supporting these key messages should understand and embody these values when undertaking tasks such as branding, campaign ideation and event participation to high standards.
Non profits are rooted in values, therefore the recruitment process should also echo that. Arts Temps is a social enterprise recruitment partner which aligns uniquely with mission driven organisations across London’s non-profit and cultural sectors. Working within University of the Arts London as an independent agency, there are five key factors that set us apart:
● Purpose before profit: We reinvest our income back to benefit the individuals we support. It’s less about monetary gain, and more emphasis on sustaining ethical employment opportunities for creatives.
● Supporting emerging creative talent: Acting as a bridge between UAL creatives and employment opportunities, we have been able to provide more than just jobs. Our talent has the chance to grow in confidence, as well as experience, when overcoming the varied barriers to breaking into creative industries.
● Ethical recruitment practices: Transparency, fair pay, inclusive hiring are some of the non-negotiable values which define UAL’s social purpose. We ensure that they are honoured in each placement to contribute to a healthier and equitable creative economy.
● Social value for clients: Our practices streamline the ethical recruitment process for organisations by aligning with their own value driven commitments. When connecting with us, it is ensured that organisations will be helping young creatives gain work experience and financial independence.
● Community and education focus: As an agency proudly based at UAL, we facilitate a developing community which unites education, employment and industry.
University of the Arts is one of the world’s leading creative universities, cultivating a vast array of students and graduates with inclusive perspectives and cross disciplinary skills. The creative talent pool in London is broad which is why Arts Temps offers organisations direct access to a highly capable creative community. UAL creatives bring expertise across design, branding, digital content, illustration, animation, video, photography, UX, copywriting and research, often rooted in themes of identity, community, sustainability and social justice. According to a report by the Creative Industries Council, the greatest demand is in “IT and software, music and the performing arts, film and TV, advertising and marketing and cultural organisations". These are a selection of the many specialisms our talent is skilled in.
Creative recruitment is shifting toward purpose, ethics and representation. UAL Arts Temps connects values led organisations with adaptable, skilled creatives who understand impact and culture. For employers seeking ethical, flexible support, Arts Temps is the solution shaping a more inclusive, mission driven future for creative work.
