UAL Hackathon: Exploring the Future with AI
UAL ran a Hackathon bringing together students from the Creative Computing Institute and expert colleagues from Digital & Technology and UAL.
The aim was to bring a diverse group of people together to explore the possibilities of AI to improve student experience at UAL by working on a prototype chatbot that would hypothetically handle enquiries.
Students from the Creative Computing Institute had the opportunity to link new data to the prototype and learn about data management with the support of expert colleagues.
The hackathon brought forward innovative ideas about user experience as well as technical outputs, which improved the chatbot prototype.
Proud Pulges, one of the students who participated on the day, said: “This event was a good opportunity to use the skills that I’ve learnt in how to build an AI and how to integrate in different settings”.
Sedef Gavaz, Director of Student Experience, also highlighted that: “This could be game changing for the education sector. We aren’t alone in the challenges we hold, so it could be possible for us to share this with other universities and collaborate more widely across the sector”.
