i Light Singapore Festival 2024

We're thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for our first-year undergraduate students to collaborate internationally on an open call for the i Light Singapore Festival 2025. Partnering with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Singapore, UAL and NAFA students will jointly create proposals, with the chance to showcase their work in the vibrant streets of Singapore during the Festival next year if selected for installation.

i Light Singapore showcases light art installations created by Singaporean and international artists designed with energy-saving lightings and/or environmentally friendly materials to encourage festival goers and the general public to adopt sustainable habits in their everyday lives. This collaborative opportunity welcomes up to five UAL students who are eager to forge international connections and explore new artistic horizons. Participants will immerse themselves in the process of conceptualising and executing designed public interaction. While this opportunity offers exposure to cross-border designed public interaction creation, acceptance into the festival is not guaranteed. Therefore, students are encouraged to approach the project with a focus on crafting high-quality, competitive pieces for submission to the international open call.

The project will run from June to September 2024, requiring active participation and commitment from all involved during the summer break. Regular attendance at meetings and ongoing collaboration are essential.

Interested students can submit their applications by Sunday 12 May, via this form.
