UAL's staff research profiles use information from various internal UAL sources, including HR, UAL Research Online and the grants system. Staff are able to enter their own information about research interests and activities into Elements.
Data is stored under article 6(1)(b) of GDPR, "Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with the data subject or to take steps to enter into a contract". It is hosted by Symplectic, the owners of the Discovery Module system which powers the profiles, and is processed within the EEA only. Personal or sensitive data is not shared with any other third parties.
This data forms part of UAL's submissions to national audit exercises such as REF.Data about staff employment will be kept for six years after termination of contract.
