Haroon Mirza creates immersive environments and kinetic sculptural installations that explore the interaction between technology, sound, light, and electric signals.

Haroon Mirza was born in London in 1977, where he lives and works. He holds an MA in Design, Critical Practice from Goldsmiths and an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design.

He has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad, with his first solo exhibition at the A-Foundation in Liverpool in 2009, and since at Camden Arts Centre, London (2011); The New Museum, New York (2012); Museum Tinguely, Basel (2015); Nam June Paik Center, Seoul (2015); Zabludowicz Collection, London (2017); Ikon, Birmingham (2018), among others.

In 2011, he was awarded the Silver Lion at the 54thVenice Biennale, and has also won the following: Northern Art Prize (2011); DAIWA Foundation Art Prize (2012), Zurich Art Prize (2013); Calder Art Prize (2015). In collaboration with Jack Jelfs, he was awarded the COLLIDE International Award in 2017, which culminated in a two-month artistic residency at CERN in 2018.

Haroon recently opened a new solo exhibition at Sifang Art Museum, Nanjing (June 2019).
