Money Matters

The information on this page gives you an overview of the costs involved in studying abroad with UAL and the various ways that you can support yourself through your studies.

As a Canadian student, you’ll be classified as an International Student for your tuition fee. You can check your fee status by visiting the UK Council for International Students Affairs website.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees at UAL refers to the annual cost of the course rather than the cost per semester. For most courses, the annual tuition fee must be paid in full before the start of each academic year.

For postgraduate courses, you are able to pay your tuition fee in instalments.

All students must meet the financial requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI), such as being able to fund tuition fees for the first year of your course, plus a specific amount of money for living costs.

Tuition Fees for 2026/27

Pre-Degree: £24,660

Undergraduate: £30,890

Postgraduate (full time standard rate for 2025/26): £29,990

Postgraduate tuition fees vary by the length and delivery of your course, please check your course page for details.

Funding for Canadian students

Scholarships

Our scholarships search tool covers the scholarship options available and how to apply for them.

Postgraduate students can apply for a Chevening Scholarship. These are fully funded scholarships to pursue a 1-year master’s degree in the UK.

The UAL International Postgraduate scholarship provides a £10,000 tuition fee waiver for a full-time or part-time taught master's course at 1 of UAL's Colleges and Institutes for the 2026/27 academic year.

We encourage students to also explore external scholarship platforms and to contact organisations directly to verify that their information is current and accurate.

Loans

As a student from Canada, you can apply for provincial funding for international studies. The 5 major Canadian banks also provide loans to international students. Take a look at our Canadian Financial Aid Guide for more information.

Our funding team is available if you require further guidance, you can email them at uscanadaloans@arts.ac.uk

Accommodation, healthcare and living costs

Accommodation

UAL has a number of student rooms in our halls of residence, which are available to international students. Our accommodation services team is also available to help you find privately rented housing in London. This varies widely in price, ranging anywhere from £170 per week to over £400 per week. Most students live a little further away from central London as it’s more affordable.

Learn more about accommodation services.

Healthcare

If you need a visa and are staying in the UK for more than 6 months, you’ll have to pay an immigration health surcharge as part of your visa application. After registering with a doctor, you’ll gain access to the National Health Service (NHS the UK’s national healthcare system), with no additional fees. You may need to pay for dental and optical treatment, as well as any medicine prescribed by the doctor.

Additional living costs

Other living costs will include food, cell phone, household bills for private accommodation, and travel - students can get 30% off public transport in London.

There are a variety of discounts available to students in the UK and a number of living costs to consider. Get advice on how to manage your money as a student with our Money Management Hub.
