The information on this page gives you an overview of the costs involved in studying abroad with UAL and the various ways that you can support yourself through your studies.
As a Canadian student, you’ll be classified as an International Student for your tuition fee. You can check your fee status by visiting the UK Council for International Students Affairs.
Tuition fees
Tuition fees at UAL refers to the annual cost of the course rather than the cost per semester. For most courses, the annual tuition fee must be paid in full before the start of each academic year.
For postgraduate courses, you are able to pay your tuition fee in instalments.
All students must meet the financial requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI), such as being able to fund tuition fees for the first year of your course, plus a specific amount of money for living costs.
Tuition Fees for 2026/27
Pre-Degree: £24,660
Undergraduate: £30,890
Postgraduate (full time standard rate for 2025/26): £29,990
Postgraduate tuition fees vary by the length and delivery of your course, please check your course page for details.

The UAL Foundation and Pre-degree International Scholarship provides a £7,000 tuition fee waiver for the full duration of Pre-degree and Undergraduate study.
We encourage students to also explore external scholarship platforms and to contact organisations directly to verify that their information is current and accurate.
Loans
You can apply for provincial funding for international studies. The 5 major Canadian banks also provide loans to international students.
Our funding team is available if you need more guidance. Email: uscanadaloans@arts.ac.uk.
Loan guide:
You apply through your provincial or territorial student assistance office.
UAL’s Canadian school code is PXAD.
Your application is assessed for both:
- Provincial funding
- Federal funding through the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC).
Read a comprehensive overview on the loan/grant application process on Campus Access.
Canadian student loans are awarded on a yearly basis. You need to reapply for funding every year.
Eligibility varies by province or territory. Always check with your student aid office before applying:
Canadian taxpayer guide:
If you're a Canadian taxpayer, you or your parent or guardian may be eligible to claim a portion of your tuition fees paid as a tax credit. To make a claim, you need to request that UAL completes Part 1 of either Canadian Revenue Agency form, TL11A or TL11D.
Form TL11A
This is the most common form requested by our Canadian taxpayer students. UAL can complete a TL11A on your behalf if either of the following circumstances apply (as defined by the Canadian Tax Agency):
- You were enrolled on a full-time UAL course that leads to a degree of at least bachelor level. (Distance learning courses will only qualify if they are both full-time and require the student to be in virtual attendance in scheduled, interactive, course-related activities conducted online).
- You were enrolled on a part-time course and are eligible for the disability tax credit or were enrolled part-time due to a mental or physical impairment.
Form TL11D
This form is applicable to students who are ‘Deemed Resident’ of Canada under section 250 of the Canadian Income Tax Act. ‘Deemed Residence’ is a specific Canadian tax term and only applies in certain circumstances. You must specifically ask UAL to complete a TL11D if this status applies to you. If you do not specify a form, UAL will assume that Form TL11A applies. If you request a TL11D UAL can provide this in respect of both full-time and part-time courses.
Requesting UAL to complete a TL11A or TL11D
These forms are completed on a calendar year basis (1 January to 31 December). TL11 forms can only be issued to you in January after the end of the calendar year. You will need to request a TL11 form for each calendar year you study at UAL. For example, if you study on a course that runs from September 2024 to July 2025, you would need to request a 2024 TL11 form in January 2025 and a 2025 TL11 form in January 2026. Please note the forms will be completed listing your fees paid in GBP.
Please send your request for a TL11 form, specifying whether you are requesting a TL11A or TL11D to uscanadaloans@arts.ac.uk. Please include your UAL student number in your email.

UAL has a number of student rooms in our halls of residence, which are available to international students. Our accommodation services team is also available to help you find privately rented housing in London. This varies widely in price, ranging anywhere from £170 per week to over £400 per week.
