There are many ways to source cheap materials and find the best study resources, including UAL's own digital and physical stores for study materials to support your creative projects.

Study resources

  • IT software and discounts: From editing softwares to website builders, you can get a variety of UAL discounts on tech resources
  • Adobe Creative Cloud: Get a subscription to the full Adobe CC suite, plus 100GB cloud storage until 13 August 2024 for a single £41.59 payment.
  • UAL eStore: Get a range of materials from our eStore’s product catalogue to reduce your study costs or get discounted equipment
  • Academic Support Online: Access online learning materials, workshops and tutorials on campus or at home
  • COBRA: Access COBRA while studying with us for free business advice on sourcing funding, acts and regulations, tax and more

Fabrics & other materials

  • Re-Use units: Find out where our Re-Use units are located to source anything from hard sheet materials to stationery, paints, adhesives and tools
  • CSM SWAP SHOP: Get unwanted materials such as fabrics, wood, screws, electronics and more that can be re-used from CSM’s staff and student SWAP SHOP
  • Scrap store: Get surplus arts and crafts materials to inspire your creativity
  • Work Aid shop: Find lots of materials and tools such as wool and yarns, hardware, fabrics and general haberdashery
  • WRAP: Get ethically sourced commercial waste for your creative projects

Living costs

  • Council Tax Exemption: Get an exemption from paying council tax if you’re a part-time student or get a 25% discount if your household is made up of 1 part-time and 1 full-time student
  • University Hardship Fund: Apply for UAL’s hardship fund which supports eligible students with maintenance costs up to several thousand pounds
