Exceptional Support Fund

The UAL Exceptional Support fund provides support for students experiencing hardship as a result of conflict and/or economic upheaval.

About

UAL has confirmed financial support for students experiencing hardship as a result of conflict and/or economic upheaval. We have launched the UAL Exceptional Support Fund which provides support towards tuition fee and living expenses for offer-holders to apply.

We understand that you may be personally affected by conflict in your country, and we want to do everything possible to support you with your studies at UAL. As a community, UAL is a meeting point for students from every nation, studying peacefully together.

Exceptional Support Fund (Tuition)

Applications for the Exceptional Support Fund (Tuition) are now closed.

The application form for a £5,000 tuition fee waiver is available from your UAL Portal now (under ‘my funding’ tab).

In order to qualify, you must be an Overseas fee paying pre-degree or undergraduate student, or a postgraduate student (any fee status). In addition, your family household income must be below £45,000 per year.

If you can’t see the application form in your UAL Portal, get in touch with the Funding team.

Exceptional Support Fund (Living Costs)

Applications for the Exceptional Support Fund (Living Cost) will open from September 2022.

UAL will offer up to £5,000 towards living and accommodation costs for students in hardship starting in 2022/23. Support will be available for both Home and Overseas students.

In order to qualify, your family household income must be below £45,000 per year. You will also need to provide evidence (such as your bank statements) to demonstrate financial need.

Students are required to provide evidence of family household income as far as is possible.  Where it is not possible to provide evidence, students will need to submit a statement about financial hardship being experienced.

The application form for the 2022/23 UAL Hardship Fund will be available from September 2022.

Receiving payment

If you have a successful application for the tuition fee waiver, it will be automatically deducted from your course fee.

Successful applicants for the living cost bursary will receive payment via bank transfer. Further information to be provided after confirmation of funding.
