A collaboration between the UAL Alumni of Colour Association and artists from the UAL Showcase.

You are warmly invited to the private view of Echoes of lives, past - bringing together members of the UAL Alumni of Colour Association and selected artists from the UAL Showcase.

Join us for a glass or two of fizz / soft drinks and canapes to celebrate the opening of this collaborative exhibition.

Curated by Samar F Zia, the exhibition brings together a group of artists of Iranian, Palestinian, African, Lebanese, Sri Lankan, Pakistani, Jamaican, and Indian heritage, who have developed new work through a mentoring programme with alumni volunteers. The result is a thoughtful and layered presentation that moves between personal histories and shared realities.

The presentation explores the notion of cultural memory as it intersects with personal experience driven by markers such as resistance, ecologies, medical bias, media bias, racial imbalance, memory, patriarchy, and punk.

The artists represented in this show have chosen themes that reflect a wide archetype of emotions that fuel challenge, reclamation and reimagination of social and cultural inconsistencies, paving way for new knowledge-systems.
