A Common Thread Loom Activation: Weaving and Eco Printing Workshop

  • Location

Lethaby Gallery, 1 Granary Square, London N1C 4AA

  • Date
As part of our exhibition 'A Common Thread', join us for a social weaving and eco printing workshop on our central loom.

Embrace the physical craft of weaving and eco printing in this informal weaving workshop, led by Gallery Assistants Taylor Hall and Jade Zaheer. Work on smaller-scale weaving projects using cardboard frames, or take part in large-scale weaving on our central loom.

In the Eco printing workshop, participants will be invited to experiment with bioprinting on strips of cold-felted wool donated by the British Wool Exchange. Eco printing is the process of transferring colour directly from a flower or plant to a piece of cloth. Using foraged flowers and plants from the local area, participants will learn to create beautiful patterns.

About Taylor Hall

Taylor Hall is a recent BA Hons Graphic Communication Design Graduate, who specialises in hands-on making and facilitation. Her current practice revolves around the relationship between communal learning and design based workshops - and how the successful teaching of these skills benefits individuals by introducing cross disciplinary skill exchange in a group dynamic.

About Jade Zaheer

Jade Zaheer is a recent graduate from BA Fine Art with Creative Computing, whose practice is concerned with how craft can connect us with our local environments and non-human subjectivities.
