On Tuesday 21 February at 1.40pm, LCC held its termly fire evacuation. It took 6 minutes to evacuate just over 1,600 people from the site. Thank you to everyone who was involved.

In an event of a fire evacuation, students should leave the building through the nearest fire exit doors and then go directly to the fire assembly point in St Mary’s Churchyard Park next to Pret a Manger. Please see the map below:

During an evacuation, please ensure you respond to the Fire Wardens inside and outside the building. Do not go against the flow of evacuating persons on stairwells and in exit corridors. Please also ensure all nearest, safest fire exits are used, to avoid crowds occurring at the front door.

If you have difficulty evacuating, please discuss this with your Course Leader, and a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) will be put in place for you.

While re-entering the building, please remember to show your student ID card. This speeds up how quickly the college staff can get everyone back into the building.

If you have any questions and feedback about the evacuation, please contact Dan Bush – Interim Facilities Manager, Gavin Mulheron – Interim Facilities Co-ordinator or Nathan Harris – LCC Health and Safety Advisor.
