Would you like to help inform future use of pass / fail assessment practices at UAL?

We are conducting a research study to understand the experiences of students and academic staff in pass / fail assessment, following its use for all first-year units this academic year. We are inviting you to take part, as your experiences are really valuable to our study.

What will I be asked to do?

If you would like to participate, this would entail an interview in June about your experiences of learning and being assessed on pass / fail level 4 unit(s). You have a choice of two interview formats:

1.       Friendship interview with a peer via MS Teams (this will take no more than 1 hour), or

2.       An email interview (you will be sent up to 3 emails with a few questions each time). You can respond in text or can send an audio / video response, e.g. phone recording.

As a small thank you for taking part, you will receive a £20 GBP voucher for use in UAL arts shops and canteens.

Who can take part?

This research is open to all UAL Undergraduate students who have experience of being assessed on Level 4 (Year 1) pass / fail assessment during 2019/20 or 2020/21 academic years.

How do I take part?

If you would like to participate please read the attached Participant Information sheet and get in touch via this form.

Deadline: Thursday 10 June 2021

For more info on the project please contact Vikki Hill v.hill@arts.ac.uk or Neil Currant at n.currrant@arts.ac.uk

We look forward to hearing from you!
