Happy International Women’s Day (IWD) to everyone at UAL!

Sunday 8 March is International Women’s Day – an annual celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and anyone who feels represented by this day. It is also a call to action for accelerating gender parity, fundraising for women-focused charities and raising awareness around barriers and issues.

The theme this year is #GiveToGain, emphasising the importance of reciprocity and support in efforts to achieve gender equality.

Gender parity at UAL

Our Gender Equality Action Plan, found on our Equality objectives and reports webpage, is in place to help us understand and address issues of gender inequality at UAL. The plan lays out the initiatives and actions the University has committed to undertake to enhance gender equality and create a fair and equal working environment for our community.

Our 2025/26 Gender Pay Gap report, is live now on the government website. The UK government introduced gender pay gap reporting regulations in 2017, requiring organisations with over 250 employees to disclose the difference between the average pay of men and women within their organisation.

Celebrating International Women’s Day in our community

To celebrate International Women's Day, we're thrilled to share our Women of the World Showcase collection. It was guest-curated by Colette Bailey, CEO of Women of the World, a global alliance of partners driving an equal and inclusive future for women, girls and non-binary people. The collection highlights projects that explore womanhood from multiple angles. Some draw inspiration from the artist’s personal background, their heritage and the women who preceded them. Others look at women’s health, reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy.
