Carbon Walk explores the social and structural fault lines that shape how climate responsibility is experienced across society.

In this workshop, participants role-play characters positioned differently within economic and political systems, be they a low-income parent, an oil company executive, a student, or a policymaker. Each has unequal access to power, resources, and choice.

Moving between different stations, participants make decisions in different activities that affect their carbon score. However, some characters begin with structural advantages, while others encounter systemic barriers. As conversations progress, this imbalance exposes the tension between individual action and institutional responsibility.

Carbon Walk was developed by the Carbon Readersgroup within the 2024/25 Diploma in Professional Studies cohort. As former DPS students and ambassadors, we are interested in how climate literacy can be explored through embodied learning rather than just passive discussion.

This workshop is open to students and staff across the University of the Arts London. It will take place on the London College of Communication campus.
