Step out of the pressures to produce and step in to a space of collective being.

As part of Earth Week’s exploration of Fault Lines, artist Petter Scholander invites you to an "otherworldly meditation" where you will be sitting next to a ring of modular, solar-powered light creatures.

In contrast to our neo-liberal surroundings, where we are pushed to constantly produce and consume, this installation creates a space for you to simply pause, without having to contribute or reach a conclusion. Guided by the Sámi worldview of the artist’s family, this space is for quiet reflection or open conversation, accompanied by ambient field recordings from the Ume-Sámi region of Sápmi.

About the artist

Petter Schölander is a multidisciplinary artist and a 3D specialist at UAL. He is the creator of Samoota, a research-through-practice framework exploring how playful, low-pressure environments can support ethical creative learning. Informed by his indigenous Sámi heritage, Petter’s work emphasises altruistic and non-commercial, modular design.

His Samoota project seeks to realign our relationship with the environment by focusing on the emotional bonds between people and the land.

This workshop is open to students and staff across the University of the Arts London. It will take place on the London College of Communication campus.
