Course overview
This inspiring online short course is designed to help students enhance their photography skills and explore the creative potential of the digital camera through a combination of online classroom theory and practical exercises.
The course aims to develop technical skills, guide students on how to see the world with a ‘photographer’s eye’ and broaden critical thinking about photography.
Students will work to produce a coherent portfolio or project during the course, which they will present and receive feedback on during the last class.

This 5-week online short course is aimed at anyone who wants to explore the creative potential of their photography practice, from beginner to advanced.
More advanced students would find the course useful in order to refine and practice project-based work after an initial recap of the fundamentals.
This course would also be beneficial to students looking to develop their own portfolio or body of work.

Materials
Recommended materials:
- A fully charged digital camera with plenty of digital memory (you will need to be familiar with your camera operating system before starting the course - please read your manuals before lesson 1)
- A card reader or USB cable to copy your images to your computer
- A torch or small lamp

Tutor
Teri Pengilley
Since completing a postgraduate course in Photojournalism at the London College of Printing in June 2000, Teri Pengilley has worked as an editorial photographer both nationally and internationally. Her work includes five months covering Iraq after the 2003 invasion and documentary work in Sri Lanka and Indonesia following the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami. Based in London and working mostly for The Independent, The Guardian and Save the Children, Teri has had work exhibited in solo and group exhibitions.
