Patternmaking Level 2 Short Course

Course description

This course builds on the Patternmaking - Level 1 short course. You will apply already learned rules of basic patternmaking methodology to enhance your existing knowledge. You will be taught how to use specialist equipment, pattern terminology, and the correct written and drawn information that should be on the patterns.

Entry requirements: A good basic knowledge of patternmaking is required if you are to benefit from this short programme. Ideally, you should have completed our Patternmaking Level 1 before doing this course.

Clear, easy to understand lessons:

  • Our tutors will explain things in easy to understand, accessible English. If they need to use any special terminology they will make sure they explain what they mean.
  • New methods will be shown to students through live demonstrations, in a way thats crystal clear and easy to understand.

  • As long as you attend a minimum of 80% of your classes, we will provide you with a certificate of attendance.
  • We always recommend you attend all of the classes so that you get the most out of the experience!

Please note: This course is for students aged 18 and older.

Booking:

Your course place is confirmed once you have booked online using a credit or debit card. There is no deadline for booking. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis, and all courses have a maximum number of students. We suggest you book early to avoid disappointment.

Topics covered

Tutor-led demonstrations will provide the starting point from which to practise and develop your skills and aesthetic values.

With this understanding and knowledge in place, you will be able to draw on these skills to further develop the art of patternmaking and to realise your three dimensional designs.

The course will cover tailored/shirt collars, tailored/raglan sleeves and various dress and trouser styles.

Style lines and adding fullness through gathers and pleats will also be included

Materials

  • Graders Set Square or Pattern Master
  • Paper Scissors
  • Tape Measure
  • Tracing Wheel
  • Pattern awl
  • Pen/Pencils
  • Eraser
  • Masking Tape or glue stick
  • Notepad
  • Pins
