3D Draping on The Stand Summer School Short Course

Course description

This intensive 3D draping course concentrates on key elements from our ‘3D Draping Module 1’ course before moving on to cover advanced creative draping work. You will start by draping fabric onto a dressmakers stand/mannequin and learning the techniques to transfer these designs onto paper to make a pattern. You will then move on to more advanced styling, transforming your concepts into different shapes and styles as well as making and sewing a final finished toile (test garment).

You will also complete a portfolio of pictures of 3D work that will be valuable if you are applying for a foundation or BA course in fashion. Plus, your portfolio of designs can potentially form the beginnings of your fashion collection.

In order to aid your learning, during the course you will use the bestselling book 'Art of Fashion Draping' by Connie Amaden-Crawford, which includes step by step information and clear to understand diagrams for you to follow alongside the tutor’s demonstrations.
