Fashion Communication Summer School Short Course
Course description
Course overview
In this intensive three-week course, you’ll experience hands-on classes to explore and understand the breadth of fashion communication and the variety of ways an idea can be communicated as it pertains to the fashion industry.
You’ll explore disciplines such as fashion illustration, research, styling and creative direction, as well as PR and branding to work on a brief to create your own fashion zine or creative document.
With the support the tutors, who are working professionals in the fashion industry, you’ll receive guidance on activities to help you understand the relationship between creativity and commerce; enrich your taste-level with trend and culture literacy; be taught aesthetics theory; and gain tools to support new ways of thinking about fashion and your own creativity.
You’ll be taken on a research field trip and have access to the CSM Museum & Study Collection where you will study items of historical significance from and from CSM alumni, including Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.
Who should take this course?
This course is suitable for anyone who would like to expand their view of the inner workings of fashion industry, learn from industry insiders and unlock their creative potential. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done anything creative in your life, we encourage people to jump in, take risks and grow.

Learning outcomes
- Identify the characteristics of, and apply the skills from, a range of disciplines within the fashion industry
- Develop a research practice to support your own work and (if fashion business is your primary interest) gain an insight into how the creative end of the business works

The course is formatted to guide you towards an outcome of a printed document which will bring together all the work you will have done in the first two weeks.

A full list of materials will be provided on the first day of the course. Please come prepared with your devices installed with graphics/illustration/photo software.
Tutor
Jenny Postle-Cope
Jenny Postle-Cope was educated at Central Saint Martins studying BA Textiles followed by MA Fashion. She is currently working as a Senior Knitwear Design consultant for leading UK brands. Jenny has worked as a knitwear designer in the UK and Europe during her 14 years experience in luxury fashion. Alongside this, Jenny has continued to teach Fashion at BA and MA level, in colleges in the UK and abroad.
Airy Something
Airy Something (FKA Aaron Francis Walker) is a fashion stylist and consultant who works across fashion, talent styling for music, wardrobe for film, print media and advertising. After training at Central Saint Martins they worked in fashion PR before segueing into styling and being appointed Style Director at Notion magazine. After going freelance their love of image making through clothes has seen them work with major music labels, fashion brands and publications. Clients and affiliates have included i-D Magazine, Vogue.it, Ariana Grande, Paloma Faith Haim, Diesel, Nissan, Sony, Universal, Bryan Ferry, Pull and Bear, Jaeger, Pringle of Scotland, Channel 4 and The Guardian.
