Course description
This course will introduce you to the roles with fashion buying and merchandising and what to expect if you plan to start your career with an established retailer.
With the emphasis on larger retailers, this course will help you understand what it takes to succeed as a buyer or merchandiser, and the many exciting and challenging aspects of the roles. You will also start to build a comprehensive reference file on the subject.
Once you've completed this course you might consider moving onto our intermediate level courses.
Who is Introduction to Fashion Buying and Merchandising Short Course for?
This course is suitable for beginners and for those who have recently started in a buying or merchandising role and want to understand best practice. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required. The projects you'll be asked to undertake involve mathematical formulae therefore it's essential you have an understanding of maths to GCSE level C or equivalent.

- Pocket calculator
- Please bring 2/3 magazines (fashion/ lifestyle/ home) that you are wiling to cut up

To take part in the online sessions you will need:
- An up-to-date web browser (we recommend Chrome)
- Microphone and headphones (a headset with a microphone function is recommended. The built-in microphone in your device would also be fine)
